Understanding Insurance for Acupuncture and Physical Therapy in NYC
We are often asked about insurance plan coverage for acupuncture and physical therapy, and the answer is never a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’. We hope to shed some light on the topic and provide a clear explanation of how acupuncture or physical therapy generally works with health insurance.
If you have insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Cigna or Aetna, there is a chance that acupuncture and physical therapy are covered. BeAti Clinic is out of network with these providers, but that does not guarantee coverage. However, please do not confuse that listing with your plan’s coverage of our services.
If you are not sure of your coverage, we are happy to check for you. All we need is your provider name, your member ID, and your date of birth.
If your plan does cover acupuncture or physical therapy, your out-of-pocket expenses will fall into one of two scenarios:
- You will owe a designated amount.
- You will owe an amount dependent on your deductible.
If you have met your out-of-pocket maximum, there will be no out-of-pocket cost for each visit.
If your plan does not cover acupuncture or physical therapy, or if you do not have insurance, your out-of-pocket cost is $150 for the initial visit, and $100 for follow-up visits. For these situations, we have packages available for the follow-up visits that can help offset some of your costs.
We are happy to discuss available packages after your treatment, and you can include that same treatment as part of a package purchase.
The costs of acupuncture or physical therapy in NYC are different, depending on the place and the type of business setting. Acupuncture and physical therapy in a community based setting may be an low-priced option for many, but the lack of privacy and time apportioned per session may not be the best way for clients who require careful attention for their needs.
In comparison, there are also clinics in NYC that offer only private treatments but with generally higher price. In private setting, each session is taken in private room, and the provider generally spends more one-on-one time with the client.
While there are benefits to both types of practices listed above, we offer the best of both advantages. Our clinic provides our valued clients with reasonable price and more private one-on-one treatment in private room.
